Trying to Garden Peacefully While Battling an Army of Psychotic Squirrels Plus Other Random Thoughts

Started on “garden business” plus some other experiments…

So I picked up Niece and Nephew from school on Friday, in the pouring rain, but we still made it to the Food Lion parking lot to find that darn geocache that we missed and found it!  And damn were we wet afterwards!  We stopped by the Harris Teeter to pick up some flour that we needed, got in a fight in the parking lot, then came home.  I told them we could make pretzels or bagels but Nephew says he doesn’t like bagels.  Niece loves blueberry bagels, but I didn’t think my first foray into homemade bagel making (aside from that time in law school when I bought a mix at Publix) needed to involve something as fancy as blueberry bagels.  So we compromised with pretzels.  They actually taste good (just remember the day after you make them you need to stick them in the oven for a few to freshen them up).

And of course, we had to make some teeny tiny pretzels that had to be boiled in a teeny tiny pot – when is this teeny tiny crap going to wear off?????

Now for a little garden news – we are going to try starting with seeds this year – I’m not sure what’s going on here. I remember when I was little, we would plant seeds in the actual ground for our gardens but now apparently the “thing” is to start the seeds indoors then plant the plants after they sprout. Okay, well, it gives the N&N something to do so I’m all for that. (Plus we had fun.)

Don’t forget that my mom (aka Grandma) is having surgery Monday – the N&N didn’t and really loved it when I suggested they teach Grandma how to use the walker she will need to use after her hip replacement!

And, yes, Nephew got his police siren bicycle attachment for it and I pulled out the cup holder that Mrs. C brought over…
